Asocijacija timova formule 1 (FOTA) je pozvala na momentalne promene u sistemu bodovanja, a predložila je i druge metode koje treba da smanje troškove sporta. Povodom sastanka FOTA koji je održan u sredu, predlozi su danas prodiskutovani na konferenciji za novinare u Ženevi u Švajcarskoj.
FOTA je sastavljena u julu 2008. godine i predstavlja sve timove u šampionatu. Organizacija veruje da binovi bodovni sistem 12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1 doneo veću diferencijaciju i stoga bi pobednik trke bio više nagrađen.
FOTA je u svom saopštenju svoje ideje odvojila u nekoliko ključnih tačaka (Tehničke, sportske i komercijalne). Prenosimo predloge u originalu:
Technical
2009:
- Double lifespan of engines (eight engines per driver per season)
- Reduction in use of wind tunnels and CFD (computational fluid dynamics)
- Cost per engine of €8 million per team, per season
2010:
- Cost per engine of €5 million per team, per season
- Cost per gearbox of €1.5 million per team, per season
- Standardised KERS with a target price of €1-2 million per team, per season
- Halve spending on aerodynamics from 2009 amounts
- Specified number of chassis, bodywork and aerodynamic updates during season
- Banning of a wide range of exotic, metallic and composite materials
- Standardised telemetry and radio systems
Sporting
2009:
- Halve amount of testing (already in progress)
- New points-scoring system (12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1), to give create greater difference between first and second and therefore greater reward to Grand Prix winners
- Race starting fuel loads, tyre specifications and refuelling data to be made public
2010:
- Commitment to recommend new qualifying format (to be discussed)
- New points-scoring opportunities (eg, one constructors' point for fastest pit-stop)
- Further testing reductions (four four-day single-car pre-season tests plus one single-car pre-season shakedown)
- Reduction of grand prix duration to 250km / maximum of one hour 40 minutes (to be approved by Formula One Management)
Commercial
2009:
- More data sent to media companies
- Explore how F1 action can be more informative and dynamic for the public, like in other sports such as tennis and cricket
- Nominated senior team spokesman available for TV during races
- Improve team and FOTA websites
- Mandatory driver autograph sessions during grand prix weekends
2010:
- Improve TV coverage
